Flow cups are often used in industry and research laboratories. The user starts timing when the liquid begins to flow at the lower end of the nozzle. It is stopped as soon as the flow is no longer uniform.  After completing the measurement, it is imperative to clean the flow cup, as dried residues can distort the next measurement result. It should also be ensured that no pointed or sharp tools are used for cleaning.
