The viscometer measures the mechanical resistance of any liquid to the rotational movement of a shaft. This results in a torque recognized by the viscometer and converted into a viscosity value. With an accuracy of ± 1.0%, the rotational viscometer is a very precise measuring device despite the high measuring range of 10… 2,000,000 cP or mPa*s. With the temperature sensor immersed in the viscometer, the temperatures of the liquids to be tested can be measured between 0 and 100 °C or 0 and 212 °F.
This viscometer is used, for example, in quality control of oils. Many oils change their viscosity depending on the temperature. Thanks to the timer function, the rotational viscometer can operate for the period set by the operator. Meanwhile, the measurement data are transferred from the rotational viscometer to a computer via the RS232 output. The software for the rotational viscometer can then display the temperature profile and also the viscosity profile graphically and in table form. An optional printer can also be connected directly to the viscometer to print the corresponding measured value.
The viscometer can be aligned by adjusting its feet so that the measuring shaft is always perpendicular to the medium to be measured. For alignment control, the viscometer has a correct alignment indicator. At the same time, the height of the sample container can be adjusted with a maximum total displacement of 25 cm from the viscometer to properly position the shaft.
