The dial caliper gage is a measuring instrument that utilizes spring-loaded jaws in order to take highly accurate comparison measurements of hole diameters and groove and tube thicknesses. An internal dial caliper gauge is designed for use as a comparator, to be set up using a setting ring or micrometer. The caliper is spring loaded and makes point contact at constant measuring force.
