The magnetic chuck or magnetic table is a device used in metalworking to securely hold workpieces in place during operations such as grinding, grinding, milling, or drilling.

It is commonly used in machine shops and manufacturing facilities. The magnetic chuck consists of a flat surface, often made of steel or other magnetic materials, with a series of strong magnets embedded within it. When the chuck is activated, an electromagnetic field is created, causing the workpiece to become magnetized and firmly held on the chuck's surface.

The main advantage of a magnetic chuck is its ability to securely hold the workpiece without the need for clamps or straps. This allows greater accessibility to the workpiece and facilitates uninterrupted machining operations.

The magnetic chuck also ensures that the workpiece remains flat and parallel to the machine's cutting tool, resulting in accurate and precise work.

Magnetic chucks come in various sizes and configurations to accommodate different types and sizes of workpieces. They can be either permanent magnets, which require manual activation and deactivation, or electromagnetic chucks, which can be controlled by a power supply to turn the magnet on and off as needed.

It is important to note that magnetic chucks are designed to hold ferromagnetic materials such as iron or steel. Non-magnetic materials like aluminum or brass are not suitable for gripping with a magnetic chuck unless a specialized auxiliary device, such as a vise or fixture, is used for indirect securing.
