Immersion Flow Cup Viscometers for Viscosity Measurement / German Standard DIN 53211 /

Anodized aluminum cup / Also available as a flow cup
Flow cup viscometers are viscometers for determining the viscosity of liquids. Flow cups are often used in industry and research laboratories. Due to the form of the measurement method, however, the determination is only performed on low-viscosity liquids, since the liquid cannot flow from the nozzles if the viscosities are too high. Viscosity measurements for Newtonian fluids therefore give the most accurate results in the flow cup. Viscosity can be determined based on the flow volume and the measured time it takes the liquid to pass through the nozzle. The user starts timing when liquid begins to flow at the bottom end of the nozzle. It stops as soon as the flow is no longer uniform. After the measurement is completed, it is imperative to clean the flow cup, as dried debris can falsify the next measurement result. It should also be ensured that no pointed or sharp tools are used for cleaning. Scratches on the flow cup viscometer affect the result.
