The PCE-RT 2300 is ideal for measuring surface roughness. The meter has a detachable motorized sensor, which makes it possible to determine the roughness even on small or narrow profiles. The measured values are displayed on the meter's large LCD screen. The device is powered by a battery or via a USB cable with power.
The detachable motorized sensor is connected by cable to the meter main unit. The diamond stylus is installed on the sensor, which presses with a maximum force of 4 mN on the surface to be measured. The roughness meter measures according to applicable ISO, ANSI and JIS standards.
Below is an interpretation of the main results that the PCE-RT 2000 gives after the measurement:
Rz = average roughness depth
The average roughness Rz is the arithmetic average of the largest degrees of roughness of several adjacent individual measuring sections.
Ra = number average roughness
Ra is the generally recognized and internationally applied roughness parameter. It is the arithmetic mean of the absolute values of the deviations of the profile from the reference line. The measured Ra value is always less than the Rz value determined on the same roughness profile.
Rt = maximum surface roughness
The maximum surface roughness Rt is the distance between the highest and lowest point of the measuring section.
Rq = root mean square roughness
Rq is the root mean square of all axial measurements (coordinates) within the defined measurement distance l. Rq corresponds to the name RMS (Root Mean Square).
