The Taps are the main tool for making female threads. It is a cutting tool that shapes the thread by removing material. It is placed in an already drilled hole and, by "screwing," cuts the material creating the thread. The hand taps consist of two or three pieces, and to produce the thread all the numbers must pass through. This is done for two reasons. Initially, because the first tap requires a longer length to function as a guide, and secondly, to reduce the required torque during cutting, thus facilitating manual use.
