The PCE-IT100 insulation tester detects with auxiliary voltages of 125V, 250V, 500V and 1000V insulation resistances up to 4000 MΩ. In addition, it is used to measure resistances up to 400 Ω and AC and DC voltage. A continuity tester with audible signal is also part of the isolation meter equipment. The meter has a data hold function as well as a maximum and minimum value recording function.
The large digits, backlit display and ease of use make the PCE-IT 100 ideal for demanding environments with limited lighting. The insulation meter comes with a set of test leads with test probes, a test lead with alligator clips and 6 batteries.
Observed limits for insulation measurement
- For new installations (dry rooms): 1000 ohms x volts of operating voltage (eg at 230 volts > 230 kOhms)
- For new installations (wet areas, outdoor areas): 500 ohms x volts operating voltage
- Grounding in devices: 1000 ohms x volt operating voltage
- Protected devices: 2 MOhm
- Power tools: 2 MOhm
- Ultra low voltage: 250 kOhm
- Electrical measuring devices: 5 MOhm
- Common test voltage values are 100 V for low voltage and telecommunication systems, 500 V for building installations and household appliances, 1000 V for low voltage motors and transformers
