Hole Gauges

The hole gauge, also known as a control pin, is a precision measuring instrument used to check the diameter or depth of holes or openings. It consists of a cylindrical, often tapered, rod or pin with specific dimensions designed to fit into the hole being measured. The gauge is manufactured with precise tolerances, ensuring it accurately represents the desired dimensions.

To use a hole gauge, it is inserted into the hole or opening being measured. If the gauge fits perfectly without force or noticeable play, the size or depth of the hole is within the acceptable tolerance range. If there is resistance or if the gauge does not fit smoothly, it indicates that the hole dimensions are either too small or too large, respectively, and may require adjustments or further inspection.
