UCI's PCE-3000 ultrasonic tester can be used for rapid hardness testing. The device has a wide measurement range, easy handling, robust design and temperature resistance down to -20 ° C. In addition to hardness in Rockwell, Brinell and Vickers, the UCI hardness tester can test the tensile strength of steel up to 1740 MPa. The UCI hardness tester is delivered with a 50N hand-held sensor, which can be measured in all directions without a correction factor.
A Vickers diamond, which is made for the ultrasonic frequency region, is located at the tip of the penetrator. By touching the diamond to the surface of the sample, the vibrations are slowed down. The resulting frequency shift is directly related to the surface hardness of the sample. Due to the low test loads, the penetration depth of the diamond is very low and leaves an almost invisible imprint (NDT - non-destructive testing). Therefore, the UCI hardness tester is used to test small, thin-walled components and surface-hardened specimens. The hardness probe is also ideal for measuring welds and inspecting parts with complex geometry.
In addition to the UCI method that the PCE-3000 measures, it can also be equipped with a bounce detector. This allows the UCI durometer to be upgraded to a rebound durometer. Thus, users have a choice between the PCE-3000U with the UCI hardness tester and the PCE-3000UL, which is complemented by the rebound hardness detector.
