Thread repair kits are used to fix damaged or defective threads in metals, many plastics, or composite materials.
The process of repairing threads in a damaged hole, using a V-COIL Set, involves the following steps:
- Drill out the damaged threads using a drill of the correct size.

- Then create a new thread with the tap included in the set.

- Screw the spring into the new thread in the hole, using the insertion tool, just below the surface of the component.

- Unscrew the insertion tool. The threaded insert will expand slightly as the torque is released from the insertion tool. This will cause it to lock into the component.

-
BaerCoil thread inserts can be shortened, depending on the required length, with a side cutter or similar tool.
