EMF Electromagnetic Radiation Meters

The term EMF (ElectroMagnetic Fields) covers all fields emitted by sources carrying current or radio waves. They are generally divided into:

  • ELF Electric Field: Low-frequency electric fields (50/60 Hz) from sockets and cables
  • ELF Magnetic Field: Low-frequency magnetic fields from current, transformers, household appliances
  • DC Magnetic Field: Static magnetic fields from permanent magnets or DC current
  • RF Radiation: High-frequency radiation from Wi-Fi, mobile phones, antennas
  • Electrostatic Field: Static electric charges (ESD) in electronic environments

Which instrument measures what?

Need Recommended type
Home check (Wi-Fi, sockets, refrigerators) Tri-mode or ELF+RF Meter
Measurement near power lines or PPC substations ELF Magnetic Meter
Radiation check from wireless devices RF Radiation Meter
Measurement of static magnets / DC DC Magnetic Meter
Check of electrostatic charges (ESD) Electrostatic Meter

Common for the filters:

  • Field Type: What it measures (Electric, Magnetic, RF, Static, etc.)
  • Frequency: ELF, DC, RF, or Broadband
  • Application: Where you will use it (home, factory, laboratory)
  • Features: Device features (3-axis, external sensor, logging)
  • Measurement Units: Which units it displays on the screen
