The L*a*b color space |

Here you can see the L*a*b color space. This color space covers all colors visible to the naked eye. L=100 means white and L=0 for black. "a+" and "a-" or "b+" and "b-" means the color contrasts red, green, yellow and blue. Basic settings such as time, language, date, but also settings related to recording and color spaces are displayed on the PCE-CSM 2 Colorimeter. |

The colorimeter is an instrument for measuring and evaluating the color of the examined surface. A light source illuminates an object, which then absorbs some of that light and reflects the rest. This reflected light can then be detected by a sensor to determine the reflected wavelengths and thus calculate its color. Colorimeters are often applied in quality control areas in industrial sectors.
The PCE-CSM 2 colorimeter has measuring aperture 8 mm . The supported color spaces of the PCE-CSM 2 colorimeter are CIEL*a*b*C*h, CIEL a*b* and CIEXYZ. It is suitable for measuring liquids, fabrics and even food. Therefore, the PCE-CSM 2 colorimeter is ideally applied for measurements of e.g. meat, banana or tomato. Thanks to the "CQCS3" software included in the delivery, the measurement data can be transferred to a computer for further analysis and processing.
