Lathe Inserts

The Turning Inserts are cutting inserts, mainly made of carbide. Depending on their geometry, they are divided into two main categories:

  • Positive cutting inserts, which reduce cutting forces and are mainly used for finishing.
  • Negative cutting inserts, which offer increased durability and are suitable for heavy machining.

Another important factor in insert selection is the chipbreakers, which regulate the formation and removal of chips, directly affecting the quality of the machining.

Equally decisive is the quality of the insert, which depends on the carbide composition and the coating. Various coating application techniques create a wide range of coatings, giving the inserts specific properties of durability and performance.

The choice of the appropriate chipbreaker and quality is made based on the material to be machined and the machining requirements. The correct combination of geometry, quality, and chipbreaker maximizes the tool life and machining performance on various materials.
