View full detailsContact thermometers measure temperature with a probe that touches or penetrates the material, where non-contact measurement is not enough: the core of a food product, inside a liquid, on a pipe surface, or in flue gas. They give the true material temperature regardless of surface emissivity or finish.
This collection covers two families. Penetration & food thermometers (HACCP) with a built-in probe, ranges up to 330 °C, and combined penetration + infrared models for fast checks on deliveries, refrigeration and cooking. And Type K thermocouple thermometers, from single channel up to 16 channels, with interchangeable K/J/T/E/R/S/N/B probes, ranges up to 1767 °C, internal or SD-card logging and USB or Bluetooth export for industrial processes, ovens and testing. For high-accuracy measurement over a narrower span there are PT100 / RTD models accurate to ±0.5 °C, plus specialised versions such as the frying-oil thermal stress meter (TPM) and a thermocouple calibrator.
How to choose
- Temperature range: food and refrigeration up to ~330 °C; ovens, burners and metalwork need a Type K unit reaching 1300–1767 °C.
- Sensor type: Type K thermocouple for wide range and fast response; PT100 for higher accuracy over a narrower span.
- Probe form: penetration for solids and food, immersion for liquids, surface for pipes and plates, air for chambers.
- Channels & logging: single channel for spot checks; 2–16 channels with a data logger when you need to compare points or document a profile.
- Calibration: for HACCP, ISO 9001 or customer audits, order the instrument with a certificate.
FAQ
Can I order a calibrated thermometer?
Yes. Any contact or thermocouple thermometer in this category can be supplied with an ISO/IEC 17025 calibration certificate, added to the cart alongside the instrument and issued with a serial number and date.
How is this different from an infrared thermometer?
Infrared units read the surface only and are affected by the material's emissivity. Contact thermometers read the core or the actual point of interest, and are the right choice for food, liquids and documented checks.
Are the probes interchangeable?
On thermocouple models, yes — they accept standard mini-K plugs, so you can swap the probe to suit the application. See the Thermocouples category for replacement sensors.
