The contact thermometers are used when high measurement accuracy or internal measurement of an object is required. They are divided into thermocouple thermometers and RTD or PT100. Thermometers with type K thermocouples are the most widely used. Some instruments can connect to more than one thermocouple for multiple simultaneous measurements. PT100 type thermometers offer greater accuracy but a smaller range.
