Which tool do you need?
- 3D Tester — clamped in the spindle, it finds edges and surfaces in X, Y and Z. When the dial reads zero, the spindle axis sits exactly on the edge, with no need to account for the probe ball diameter. Available analog or digital, and as a coaxial indicator for centering bores and shafts.
- Edge Finder — for the X/Y zero: mechanical (eccentric), non-magnetic ceramic, and electronic with LED or beeper. The economical choice when you only need the workpiece edge.
- Tool Setter / Z Zero Setter — sets tool height on the workpiece or table. 50 or 100 mm reference height, with dial, LED or display, with or without a magnet.
- Milling Indicator Holders & Centering Tools — holders that mount a dial indicator on the spindle (including a BT40 taper version) for centering cylinders and bores, plus wiggler centering sets.
- Accessories — replacement probe tips for Haimer and Tschorn 3D testers.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a 3D tester and an edge finder?
An edge finder only gives the edge position in X/Y. A 3D tester works in all three axes and, thanks to its dial, shows the deviation before you reach zero, so it doubles as an alignment tool.
Which zero setter height should I choose?
50 mm is the most common reference height. 100 mm gives more clearance under the spindle. Add the setter height to the reading when you set the Z zero.
Do 3D testers need original probe tips?
Yes. Haimer guarantees 0.01 mm accuracy only with original tips, which is why we stock replacement tips for each model.
