  • Rebound-method metal hardness tester
  • ±0.5% accuracy
  • Memory for 600 values
  • Limit alarm
  • Measures inside bores
  • Handheld, one-hand operation

The PCE-2600N is a handheld durometer for fast hardness tests on metal surfaces. It works by the rebound method and displays results in HLD, HRC, HB, HV, HS, HRA and HRB. Typical uses are quality control and material inspection on steel, cast iron, aluminium alloys, brass and bronze.

The slim impact device measures in any direction over 360° and reaches into bores and other recesses. One-hand operation suits use on site. The bright OLED shows the reading, the selected scale and the measuring direction. Values are stored in the internal memory and can be recalled later.

Metal Hardness

How is hardness defined and which parameters should we take into account in a measurement? Hardness is not a fundamental property of a material, but it is the quantity that indicates how mechanically resistant a material (test piece) is to mechanical penetration by another harder body (indenter). Precisely because it is not a fundamental quantity, over the years different methods have been developed with the aim of determining it. Initially, the choice of method depends on the material of the specimen. Then, 1) the magnitude of the force and 2) the time for which the force will be applied must be determined...
