The PCE-COM 20 is a portable, non-destructive (NDT) material tester for non-ferrous metals. It uses eddy current at 60 kHz to measure the electrical conductivity of metals such as aluminium, copper, titanium, magnesium and bronze. The range is 0.51 ... 112% IACS (up to 65 MS/m). Resolution is up to 0.01% IACS and accuracy is ±0.5% at 20°C / 68°F. Automatic temperature compensation (ATC) and lift-off compensation up to 500 μm give repeatable readings on coated or corroded parts.
Typical uses include assessing strength differences in heat-treated or hardened materials, testing coin alloys for authenticity, checking alloy inhomogeneities in critical components, characterising alloys for electrical conductors and sorting materials. An internal battery charges via a port on the bottom. A USB interface transfers data to a PC.
