Grade
- PCD – Polycrystalline Diamond, formed from diamond microparticles that are bonded. It offers unparalleled wear resistance and is ideal for non-ferrous materials such as aluminum, copper, and composites as well as highly abrasive materials like graphite and composites. It cannot be used for ferrous materials due to chemical reaction at high temperatures.
Economical lathe inserts from Echain, a cutting tool manufacturer from Taiwan. The choice of the appropriate insert depends on the chipbreaker, that is the geometry that helps in breaking and removing the waste, as well as the grade, which describes the microstructure and coating of the insert and directly affects hardness and brittleness.
