Gloss Meter

Gloss meters (gloss meters) are precision instruments used to measure the optical gloss of a surface. Their operation is based on directing a beam of light at a specific angle and measuring the amount of reflected light, accurately determining how “glossy” or “matte” a surface appears.

  • Measurement Angles: They feature standardized angles 20° (high gloss), 60° (medium) and 85° (matte), according to the ISO 2813 standard.
  • Applications: They are used in the paints, plastics, automotive, and furniture industries to ensure finish uniformity.
  • Features: They provide measurements in gloss units (GU), include internal memory, and offer automatic calibration via a standard tile.
