Left-Hand Machine Tap BSP (G) - British Pipe Thread Inch Type C
Taps are cutting tools used to produce internal (female) threads in pre-drilled holes so they accept screws and bolts with precision. Available as hand taps — sets for manual work, maintenance and repairs — and machine taps for lathes, milling machines and CNC, delivering consistent pitch and repeatability.
The category covers the full range, metric and inch: metric coarse (M) and fine (MF), inch threads (UNC, UNF, BSW, BSP/G, NPT), for through or blind holes, with straight or spiral flutes, left-hand, long and trapezoidal (Tr) versions, plus special threads (PG for conduit, VG valve, EG thread repair). Options in HSS/HSS-E with coatings (TiN, VAP) and cutting geometries for steel, stainless, aluminium and cast iron, from Yg, Baer & Hepyc.
Choose by thread system (metric or inch), workpiece material, hole depth and type (blind/through) and the lubrication/cooling method, for clean threads and maximum tool life.
Tap Wrench
Tap taps are precision cutting tools used to create an internal thread in a hole (e.g. in nuts or holes in metal). This process is called tapping and requires the use of a special tap wrench or machine (drill/CNC).
- Main Categories:Hand (3-piece set): Consists of the taper (conical), the intermediate and the bottoming tap. They are used sequentially to distribute the cutting load and ensure perpendicularity.Machine: Designed for a single pass. They are divided into Spiral Point (push the chip forward - for through holes) and Spiral Flute (pull the chip out - for blind holes).
- Materials & Coatings: Usually made from HSS or HSS-E (Cobalt) for higher resistance to heat. They often have a TiN (gold color) coating to reduce friction.
- Important Rule: Before use, the appropriate hole must be drilled. The general formula for metric threads is:$D_{hole} = D_{nominal} - P$(Where $D$ is the diameter and $P$ is the thread pitch).
