The PCE-IT100 insulation tester detects insulation resistances up to 4000 MΩ with auxiliary voltages of 125V, 250V, 500V, and 1000V. Additionally, it is used to measure resistances up to 400 Ω and alternating and direct voltage. A continuity tester with an audible signal is also part of the insulation tester's equipment. The tester features a data hold function as well as a function to record the maximum and minimum values.
The large digits, backlit display, and ease of use make the PCE-IT 100 ideal for demanding environments with limited lighting. The insulation tester comes with a set of test leads with test probes, a test lead with crocodile clip, and 6 batteries.
Compliance limits for insulation measurement
- For new installations (dry rooms): 1000 ohms x operating voltage (e.g. at 230 volts> 230 kOhms)
- For new installations (wet areas, outdoors): 500 ohms x operating voltage
- Grounding in devices: 1000 ohms x operating voltage
- Protected devices: 2 MOhm
- Electrical tools: 2 MOhm
- Extremely low voltage: 250 kOhm
- Electrical appliances: 5 MOhm
- Common test voltage values are 100 V for low voltage and telecommunications systems, 500 V for building installations and household appliances, 1000 V for motors and low voltage transformers
