The PCE-5890 is a handheld refractometer for honey. It measures sugar (sucrose) content in % Brix, water content in % and density in degrees Baumé. A triple scale shows all three values at once. It is used in beekeeping, honey production and food processing.

The focusing eyepiece shows the scale on a semi-transparent blue and a fully transparent clear background. Normal room light is enough to read the result. Automatic temperature compensation (ATC) keeps readings accurate after changes in operating temperature, without recalibration.
