The PCE-DRS 2 is a handheld digital refractometer for measuring salinity in aqueous solutions. It measures salinity (0 to 100 ‰), chloride content (0 to 57 ‰), specific density (1.000 to 1.070) and refractive index (1.3330 to 1.3530 nD). It also shows the sample temperature. A few drops in the stainless-steel tray are enough. Automatic temperature compensation works from 10 to 40 °C. A built-in light source prevents errors caused by artificial light, such as fluorescent lamps.

Typical uses include brine, canned vegetables, soups and juices in food production, de-icing agents in tram depots, and saltwater aquariums. It also suits research and clinical laboratories. You calibrate it with distilled water at the press of a button. It switches off after one minute of inactivity to save the battery.
