Tachometers

The tachometers (or speedometers) are measuring instruments that determine the rotational speed of a shaft or a disc, usually in revolutions per minute (RPM). They are critical tools for ensuring the correct operation of engines and machinery, allowing technicians to identify deviations from the nominal operating specifications.

• Types: They are classified into optical (Laser) for non-contact measurements from a distance and contact, which use wheels or cones for direct measurement.
• Functions: Many modern models are combined (Dual), offering the ability to measure linear speed as well (e.g. m/min) on conveyor belts.
• Applications: They are widely used in industrial equipment maintenance, the automotive industry, shipping, and the inspection of ventilation systems.
