View full detailsUltrasonic flowmeters measure liquid flow velocity and volumetric flow in piping without cutting the line or contacting the medium. They use ultrasonic transducers (transmitter/receiver) mounted on the outside of the pipe to calculate flow based on signal transit time.
Available as portable clamp-on units and fixed-install solutions, with options for different pipe diameters and materials (metal/plastic), data logging, 4–20 mA/pulse outputs and RS-485/Modbus communication, from PCE Instruments.
Well suited for HVAC, industrial water networks, process plants and energy audits. When selecting a meter, consider pipe diameter, wall thickness and pipe condition, as these factors affect accuracy.
Ultrasonic Flow Meters
The ultrasonic flow meters are advanced measuring instruments that calculate liquid flow rate without coming into direct contact with the medium. They use high-frequency sound waves to determine flow velocity, providing a non-invasive solution that does not cause pressure drop or wear in the piping system.
- Technologies: They are classified into Transit-Time (for clean liquids) and Doppler (for liquids with suspended particles or bubbles).
- Advantages: Easy Clamp-on installation externally on the pipe, zero maintenance, and high accuracy across a wide range of diameters.
- Applications: They are used in water management, the chemical industry, HVAC systems, and energy efficiency monitoring.
