- (H) - Hardened materials - Painted (Hardened Steel)
Grade
- CBN – Cubic Boron Nitride, the second hardest material after diamond, based on boron and nitrogen. Ideal for machining hardened steels and superalloys. It offers excellent thermal resistance and wear resistance. It is brittle and unsuitable for soft materials.
Economical lathe inserts from Echain, a cutting tool manufacturer from Taiwan. The choice of the appropriate insert depends on the chipbreaker, that is the geometry that helps in breaking and removing the chip, as well as the grade, which describes the microstructure and coating of the insert and directly affects hardness and fracture toughness. The cutting conditions (speed, feed, depth) must be carefully defined to achieve maximum tool performance and lifespan.
