The PCE-125/3 is a Ford flow cup for determining the viscosity of liquids. It is machine-made from anodised aluminium and has an exchangeable stainless steel nozzle. Cup and nozzle openings follow the relevant DIN standard, and the cup meets ASTM D1200, D333 and D365. Only low-viscosity liquids can be measured; viscous pastes and other high-viscosity substances are not suitable.
To measure, hold the nozzle closed and fill the cup to the top. An overflow channel keeps liquid running down the sides from falsifying the result. Level off the excess with the glass plate, open the nozzle, pull the plate off horizontally and start the stopwatch. Stop the time when the outflowing stream first breaks. Clean the cup and nozzle thoroughly after every measurement.
