  • Non-contact up to 1200 °C
  • Type K input to 1370 °C
  • 50:1 spot ratio
  • Dual laser targeting
  • Adjustable emissivity
  • USB data transfer to PC

The PCE-893 measures surface temperatures without contact from -50 to +1200 °C (-58 ... 2192 °F), and up to 1370 °C / 2498 °F with a type K thermocouple. The 50:1 spot ratio allows readings from a distance, and a dual laser marks the centre of the measurement spot. Emissivity is adjustable, limit alarms can be set over the whole range and the LCD is backlit.

Measured data goes to a PC over Mini-USB with the included software for graphs and tables. Typical uses: food monitoring, hygiene tests, road construction, control cabinet and production monitoring, heating and air conditioning, motors, electronic components and fuse boxes.

Infrared Thermometers

The infrared thermometers, also known as laser thermometers, allow measuring the temperature of a surface from a distance, without physical contact. They operate by detecting the infrared radiation emitted by any object and converting it into a digital temperature reading in fractions of a second.

  • Optical Ratio (D:S): A critical feature is the distance-to-spot ratio (e.g. 12:1). This means that at a distance of 12 centimeters, the instrument measures a circular area with a diameter of 1 centimeter.
  • Emissivity Coefficient (Emissivity): Accuracy depends on the material’s ability to emit energy. Advanced models allow adjustment of the coefficient $\epsilon$ for correct measurements on metals, plastics, or organic materials.
  • Applications:Industry: Checking hot spots in electrical panels, motors, and bearings.Food: Temperature monitoring in refrigerators or production lines without risk of contamination.HVAC: Detecting heat loss in piping and insulation.
