With the selective hydrogen sensor, the gas detector can detect even the smallest leaks. Upon activation, the device automatically records the current hydrogen concentration in the environment and then only evaluates changes compared to the original measurement.
In case the measurement is not clear with all LED lights on, the current hydrogen concentration can be set as the base value by pressing the reset button and then the leak can be detected more accurately. After taking a measurement, the detector can be reset to previous sensitivity levels by pressing the RESET button.
The user first selects the sensitivity level by pressing the corresponding button.
"H" corresponds to high sensitivity, "M" to medium and "L" to low. The hydrogen content of air under normal conditions is 0.5 ppm. The meter detects the minimum concentration of 5 ppm, i.e. 0.0005 %.
The sensor is mounted on the head of a 40 cm long semi-rigid tube, so that it can easily reach hard-to-reach places. If the gas detector detects a leak, an alarm sounds and additional LED indicators light up. The higher the recorded hydrogen concentration compared to the base level, the more indicator lights light up.

The device is powered by four batteries that provide an autonomy of twelve hours of normal use. After 10 minutes of inactivity, it turns off to save power. The built-in detection sensor has a limited lifetime. Under normal conditions of use, it can be used for a period of more than one year. The correct operation of the sensor can be checked by regular use of test gas. If the sensor checks and turns out to be unreliable, it can be replaced with a new one.
