The PCE-LDC 8 is an ultrasonic gas leak detector for compressed air, coolant and non-explosive gas lines. Its sensor works at 40 kHz, the typical frequency of leaks on pressure lines (20 ... 80 kHz). A high-pass filter removes noise below 40 kHz and a built-in amplifier boosts the high-frequency sound.
Leaks are heard through the headphones and their signal intensity is shown on the LC display. A laser pointer helps aim at pipes and pressure vessels; a focus tube allows pinpoint location. Depending on line pressure, a leak can be located from up to 18 m, 59 ft. The NiMH battery runs up to 6 h. Supplied in a carrying case with all accessories.
