The PCE-PCO 1 is a handheld laser particle counter for measuring particle concentration in air. It counts 6 particle sizes from 0.3 to 10 µm at a flow rate of 2.83 l/min and also measures air temperature, dew point and relative humidity.

Typical uses are clean room monitoring, indoor air quality checks and assessing exposure to exhaust, tobacco or cigarette smoke, other harmful air pollutants and airborne dust. Cigarette smoke particles mainly fall in the 0.1 to 1.0 micron range. Readings are stored in the 80 MB internal memory or on a microSD card and transferred over mini-USB. A built-in camera records images and video.

Dust Meters

Dust meters (or particle counters) are air quality monitoring instruments that detect the concentration of suspended particles (Particulate Matter - PM). Their operation is usually based on laser scattering (laser scattering) technology, where a beam of light strikes the particles and the sensor calculates their size and quantity.

  • Particle Categories:PM2.5: Fine particles (up to 2.5 μm) that penetrate deep into the lungs and the bloodstream.PM10: Particles (up to 10 μm) such as dust, pollen, and mold.
  • Applications:Industry: Dust control in carpentry workshops, cement plants, and mines to protect workers.Cleanrooms (Cleanrooms): Certification of pharmaceutical or electronics production areas.Environment: Monitoring of air pollution and "smog" in cities.
  • Features: They include a data recording function (data logging), audible limit-exceedance alerts, and often also measure temperature and humidity in parallel.
