The PCE-T 260 is a combined tachometer and stroboscope for maintenance and production. It measures rotational speed optically and by contact, and temperature non-contact by infrared or with a Type K or PT 1000 probe. Typical uses are checking the speed and temperature of centrifuges, motors, fans and other machines and systems in industry and research.

The speed range is 0.5 ... 99.990 rpm, with a resolution of 0.5 below 1000 rpm. Coarse and fine settings are made with a push button, and the display turns 180° for speed measurement. The RS-232 interface sends readings to a PC for display or logging.

Tachometers - Speedometers

The tachometers (or speedometers) are measuring instruments that determine the rotational speed of a shaft or a disc, usually in revolutions per minute (RPM). They are critical tools for ensuring the correct operation of engines and machinery, allowing technicians to identify deviations from the nominal operating specifications.

  • Types: They are classified into optical (Laser) for non-contact measurements from a distance and contact, which use wheels or cones for direct measurement.
  • Functions: Many modern models are combined (Dual), offering the ability to measure linear speed as well (e.g. m/min) on conveyor belts.
  • Applications: They are widely used in industrial equipment maintenance, the automotive industry, shipping, and the inspection of ventilation systems.
