The PCE-WS US2 is a 2D ultrasonic airflow meter that measures wind speed and direction. Ultrasonic transducers replace the moving parts of mechanical cup anemometers, so there is no wear from friction. The polyamide housing is IP65 rated against dust and water and resists radio frequency and electromagnetic interference.

Data is output via RS485 Modbus RTU. Speed and direction are measured in one compact unit, replacing a separate anemometer and wind vane. Typical uses: solar trackers, irrigation control, greenhouse automation, wind turbines, cranes and weather stations.

Anemometers

The anemometers are measuring instruments used to determine the speed and, in many cases, the direction of the wind. They are essential equipment for meteorology and industry, enabling accurate assessment of air masses and ensuring the safe operation of technical projects.

  • Types: They are classified into propeller (vane), anemometers with cups (cup), as well as thermal (hot-wire) or ultrasonic for high-sensitivity measurements.
  • Applications: They are used in navigation, monitoring HVAC systems, construction cranes, wind farms, and air sports.
  • Features: Modern digital anemometers provide measurements in multiple units (m/s, knots, km/h) and often calculate air flow (CMM/CFM) and temperature.
