The PCE-WSB 1 is a portable handheld battery-powered whiteness meter used to measure the brightness level of paper, cardboard, cellulose, pulp, fabrics, paints, enamel, plastic, porcelain, cement, concrete, building materials, chemicals, powders, talc, starch, flour, salt, detergents, cosmetics, and other non-metallic substances.
The device determines the brightness level by measuring the intensity of light reflection diffused on a scale of 100. The brightness level of an absolutely black surface is defined by the meter as 1. Included with the meter are black, white, and gloss standards for user calibration as required to ensure consistently accurate, repeatable measurements.
