Precision Squares

Precision squares are essential reference tools for measurement and inspection, designed to verify perpendicularity (90° angle) and the flatness of surfaces. They form the basis for correct alignment of components on machine tools, as well as for final quality control of high-requirement machining operations.

  • Types: They are classified into plain squares, squares with a base (base squares), and stonemasonry or granite squares.
  • Applications: Ideal for machine setup, precision marking-out, and checking squareness on CNC components.
  • Quality: They are usually made from hardened steel or granite, following strict standards (e.g. DIN 875) that define the permissible tolerance in microns (μm).
