Material 1.1274 — Spring Steel (C100S+QT)
DIN 1.1274 corresponds to C100S+QT (former designation Ck101) — high-carbon spring steel (~1,0% C), supplied in the quenched and tempered condition (quenched & tempered), with a martensitic structure.
Why choose C100S+QT:
When you need very high mechanical strength and spring-like behaviour. The tensile strength reaches 1800–2200 N/mm², many times that of common feeler gauge blades. It withstands repeated loads without permanent deformation and returns to its original shape after bending — a property critical in applications where the feeler gauge blade is subjected to dynamic loads. In addition it offers high hardness (~50–55 HRC) and excellent wear resistance.
Typical Chemical Composition:
- C: 0,95–1,05% (high carbon)
- Mn: 0,30–0,60%
- Si: 0,15–0,35%
- Cr, Ni: ≤ 0,40% (non-alloyed)
