The PCE-T 420 is a handheld 4-channel contact thermometer for thermocouples. It accepts 8 thermocouple types (K, J, S, R, E, T, N, B) and covers -200 to +1800 °C. Accuracy with Type K is ±(0.04% of reading + 0.3 K).

The display shows all 4 temperatures at once, plus the maximum, minimum and average since the start of measurement. Each channel can also be compared with a reference channel. The thermometer stores 100 data sets of up to 100,000 readings each, 10 million values in total. Alarm thresholds for upper and lower limits mark readings in red. The included PC software imports, graphs, analyses and archives the data. Typical uses: furnace inspections, development of temperature-sensitive components, laboratory tests.

Contact Thermometers

The contact thermometers are precision instruments that measure temperature through direct physical contact of a sensor (probe) with the object under test. Unlike infrared thermometers, contact thermometers provide the highest possible accuracy, as they eliminate errors due to surface reflectivity.

  • Sensor Technology: They typically use thermocouples (Thermocouples type K, J, T) for a wide temperature range or Pt100 (RTD) sensors for laboratory-accuracy measurements.
  • Types of Sensors (Probes):Penetration: With a sharp tip for food, semi-fluid materials, or soil.Surface: With a flat head for measurement on plates, molds, or electronic components.Immersion: For liquids and chemical solutions.Air: For fast temperature measurement in air-conditioning systems.
  • Advantages: High repeatability, ability to measure inside a body (not only on the surface), and excellent durability in industrial environments.
