Photometers

The light meters (or lux meters) are precision instruments used to measure the light intensity (brightness) on a surface. They operate via a photocell (usually silicon) that converts light energy into an electrical signal, allowing the assessment of light adequacy in various environments.

• Units of Measurement: Measurement is usually in Lux (lx) or Foot-candles (fc).
• Cosine Correction: Quality light meters have a special filter to correct the angle of incidence of light (cosine correction), ensuring accuracy even when light comes in at an angle.
