The PCE-IR 90 is a handheld thermometer for checking food temperature. An infrared sensor measures surface temperature and a fold-out resistance temperature sensor measures core temperature. Both sensors cover -40 ... 300°C (-40 ... 572°F) at a fixed emissivity of 0.95.

An LED indicator shows whether the measured food temperature is optimal: red between 4 ... 65°C (39.2 ... 149°F), green below 4°C (39.2°F) or above 65°C (149°F). This helps monitor the temperature chain. The backlit display also provides a timer and stopwatch. Bluetooth sends readings to Android and iOS devices, and the free app records and exports them for later analysis. Charging is via the supplied charging station or a 5 V micro USB port.
