The PCE-A420 is a handheld cup anemometer for measuring wind speed. Three spherical plastic cups on a vertical axis turn faster as the wind gets stronger. The meter converts the revolutions per minute into wind speed. Unlike an impeller anemometer, it does not need to face the wind. The light cup star responds even to very low flows.

It measures 0.9 to 35 m/s (2.5 to 126.0 km/h) with a resolution of 0.1 m/s (0.1 km/h). It weighs 180 g and has a compact plastic housing. It suits quick on-site checks of wind speed close to the ground and private weather recording.

Anemometers

The anemometers are measuring instruments used to determine the speed and, in many cases, the direction of the wind. They are essential equipment for meteorology and industry, enabling accurate assessment of air masses and ensuring the safe operation of technical projects.

  • Types: They are classified into propeller (vane), anemometers with cups (cup), as well as thermal (hot-wire) or ultrasonic for high-sensitivity measurements.
