Ring with five LEDs

The infrared thermometer has a measurement range of -50 ... +500 °C (-58 ... 932 °F) and an adjustable emissivity coefficient between 0.10 ... 1.00. In addition to the current reading, the highest, lowest, average, and differential readings can be displayed. This means that the PCE-ILD 10 has many applications. The distance ratio is 12:1.

The infrared thermometer provides the ability to store limit temperature values outside of which a visual and acoustic alarm is automatically activated.
The infrared thermometer features two rings, each with 5 LEDs. The blue LED ring is used to detect leaks, for example, in air conditioning systems, while the white LED ring can illuminate the surrounding area.

Infrared Thermometers

The infrared thermometers, also known as laser thermometers, allow measuring the temperature of a surface from a distance, without physical contact. They operate by detecting the infrared radiation emitted by any object and converting it into a digital temperature reading in fractions of a second.

  • Optical Ratio (D:S): A critical feature is the distance-to-spot ratio (e.g. 12:1). This means that at a distance of 12 centimeters, the instrument measures a circular area with a diameter of 1 centimeter.
  • Emissivity Coefficient (Emissivity): Accuracy depends on the material’s ability to emit energy. Advanced models allow adjustment of the coefficient $\epsilon$ for correct measurements on metals, plastics, or organic materials.
  • Applications:Industry: Checking hot spots in electrical panels, motors, and bearings.Food: Temperature monitoring in refrigerators or production lines without risk of contamination.HVAC: Detecting heat loss in piping and insulation.
