The PCE-IRT 10 infrared thermometer has been developed for fixed installation. This thermometer has a 4 ... 20 mA output and a measurement range from 0 ... 600°C / 32 ... 1112°F. The emissivity factor is freely adjustable from 0.1 ... 1.000 on the thermometer. With a response time of just 150 ms, the thermometer is ideal for fast measurements. The infrared thermometer comes with a 3 m long connection cable and is powered by 12 ... 24V DC. The thermometer features a backlit display for adjusting the emissivity factor and the hold function (HOLD). The measured value is also continuously displayed on this screen. The thermometer is made of stainless steel with an IP65 sealing class, making it waterproof. The infrared thermometer is mounted on a 90° angle bracket, allowing the thermometer to be connected directly to machines to monitor critical processes immediately.

Infrared Thermometers

The infrared thermometers, also known as laser thermometers, allow measuring the temperature of a surface from a distance, without physical contact. They operate by detecting the infrared radiation emitted by any object and converting it into a digital temperature reading in fractions of a second.

  • Optical Ratio (D:S): A critical feature is the distance-to-spot ratio (e.g. 12:1). This means that at a distance of 12 centimeters, the instrument measures a circular area with a diameter of 1 centimeter.
  • Emissivity Coefficient (Emissivity): Accuracy depends on the material’s ability to emit energy. Advanced models allow adjustment of the coefficient $\epsilon$ for correct measurements on metals, plastics, or organic materials.
  • Applications:Industry: Checking hot spots in electrical panels, motors, and bearings.Food: Temperature monitoring in refrigerators or production lines without risk of contamination.HVAC: Detecting heat loss in piping and insulation.
