The PCE-SC 09 is a battery powered sound calibrator for sound level meters and other noise measurement systems. It produces a 1000 Hz tone at 94 ± 0.3 dB (1 Pa) or 114 ± 0.3 dB (10 Pa). 1 inch microphones connect directly, ½ and ¼ inch sensors through adapter attachments.

1000 Hz is the reference frequency of the internationally standardised weighting curves, so the calibrator suits instruments with A, B, C or D weighting filters. It is used in quality assurance and in calibration laboratories to check sound level meters.
