View full detailsTachometers are measurement instruments used to verify rotational speed (RPM) on shafts, motors, pulleys and belts, and—using contact wheels—measure linear speed and total length. They support setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of rotating equipment with fast, repeatable readings.
This collection includes non-contact laser models, contact tachometers, and combo units, with different ranges, resolution and response time, plus options for m/min or m/s measurements. Choose solutions from Insize, PCE Instruments & Ultra, with ergonomic housings and accessories for reliable contact measurements.
Common in industrial maintenance, HVAC, automation and QC; select based on target distance, surface reflectivity and required accuracy.

The tachometers (or speedometers) are measuring instruments that determine the rotational speed of a shaft or a disc, usually in revolutions per minute (RPM). They are critical tools for ensuring the correct operation of engines and machinery, allowing technicians to identify deviations from the nominal operating specifications.
- Types: They are classified into optical (Laser) for non-contact measurements from a distance and contact, which use wheels or cones for direct measurement.
- Functions: Many modern models are combined (Dual), offering the ability to measure linear speed as well (e.g. m/min) on conveyor belts.
- Applications: They are widely used in industrial equipment maintenance, the automotive industry, shipping, and the inspection of ventilation systems.
