The PCE-127/4P is a DIN immersion flow cup meter for measuring the viscosity of liquids to DIN 53211. Viscosity is derived from the flow volume and the time the liquid takes to run out of the nozzle. Timing starts when the liquid emerges at the lower edge of the nozzle and stops when the flow is no longer even or breaks off.

Immersion cups suit quick measurements on site: dip the cup into the medium, lift it out and start timing as the liquid leaves the nozzle. Only low-viscosity liquids can be measured, as thicker media will not run through the nozzle; Newtonian liquids give the most accurate results. Clean the cup after every measurement and use no pointed or sharp tools, since dried residues and scratches falsify the result.
