Ultrasonic Thickness Gauges

Ultrasonic thickness gauges are non-destructive testing (NDT) instruments that measure the thickness of materials with access from only one side. They operate by emitting high-frequency sound waves, which travel through the material, reflect off the back surface, and return to the sensor, calculating thickness based on the speed of sound propagation.

  • Applications: Ideal for measuring corrosion in piping, fuel tanks, ship hulls, and metal structures without interrupting their operation.
  • Materials: Suitable for metals, plastics, glass, ceramics, and composite materials, provided there is good sound conductivity.
