The PCE-430-EKIT class I sound level meter meets all the requirements of the standards and guidelines ( IEC 60651:1979, IEC 60804:2000, IEC 61672-1:2013, ANSI S1.4-1983 and ANSI S1.43-1997 ). The meter's large illuminated display displays the sound pressure level (SPL) numerically and graphically in real time. At the same time as a spectrum analyzer, the frequency of the sound is displayed on the screen and this is done thanks to the 1/1 octave band function, which detects even the slightest difference in frequency.

It can also function as a recorder for up to 24h by saving the data on a micro SD card. The meter can also be connected to the computer via the USB port and comes with software for further data processing. The Impulse function of the PCE-430 enables the measurement of a very short sound event. Finally, the built-in octave band filter makes it a sound level meter, giving the sound intensity as a function of frequency. A typical application of the PCE-430 sound level meter is to measure noise in workplaces over an 8-hour period to comply with regulations.

The special feature of the PCE-430-EKIT traffic noise meter is the outdoor accessories. Thus, the measuring device is delivered in such a way that it can be installed and operated permanently or temporarily outdoors, i.e. directly on high-traffic roads. The road noise measurement kit consists of a waterproof plastic case, a windscreen for the class 1 measurement microphone, batteries and a battery charger. Therefore, the sound meter can easily measure and record traffic noise for several days on a road.

PCE-4xx-EKIT

An additional PCE-4xx-EKIT external sound measurement kit can be combined with the PCE-428, 430 or PCE-432 sound meters. This kit makes it possible to measure external noise with a sound meter over a long period of time. The environmental noise monitoring system consists of a waterproof Peli carrying case with rollers. A charger and two additional lead gel batteries are fitted in this case, which allow the sound display to operate for up to 10 days. During external sound measurement, the case can remain closed. Due to the external connections for the microphone and power supply, all electronic components are protected from water.

The insulation of the screen provides protection from wind and rain, and the wind shield of the microphone insulates the measurement from the effect of wind. The PCE-4xx-EKIT kit charger is waterproof and can be left outdoors. A tripod is also available with which the microphone can be placed outdoors.

The PCE-4xx–EKIT can be used to measure noise in critical areas such as road surfaces in residential areas, airports, train stations as well as to measure sound events.
