PCE-900 Portable Rebound Hardness Tester / Tensile Strength Measurement / 9 Pre-Calibrated Materials / Conversion to 5 Different Hardness Scales / Type D Impact Probe

The Leeb hardness tester PCE-900 measures the hardness of nine different metals using the Leeb rebound method. This means that with the hardness detector, a impact pin bounces on a metal surface and the intensity of the rebound is used as an indicator of the material's hardness. The PCE-900 hardness tester measures the metal hardness on 5 different hardness scales (Rockwell, Vickers, Leeb, Brinell, and Shore, with Rockwell measurements distinguished in B and C). The impact probe is type D. This probe can be used for many measurements. Thanks to the provided software, the measured values can be transmitted directly to a PC. The tester comes with an ISO calibration certificate, which certifies the accuracy of the measuring device with traceability capability. This makes the PCE-900 Leeb hardness tester an important tool in the field of material inspection and product control.

Metal Hardness

How is hardness defined and which parameters should we take into account in a measurement? Hardness is not a fundamental property of a material, but it is the quantity that indicates how mechanically resistant a material (test piece) is to mechanical penetration by another harder body (indenter). Precisely because it is not a fundamental quantity, over the years different methods have been developed with the aim of determining it. Initially, the choice of method depends on the material of the specimen. Then, 1) the magnitude of the force and 2) the time for which the force will be applied must be determined...
